CURSES

I shall call today Macintosh DOOMSDAY...

This is what happened:
Computer has been acting up for about a week or so. For instance, it would let me turn it on for about 15 ish minutes (sometimes more sometimes less) but then it would get the swirly thing (the 'beachball from hell' as my mom says her 'college friends' call it) and wouldn't do anything else. So I made an appointment to see a Genius at the Genius Bar (Apple store in SoHo) for this afternoon. I woke up this morning, tried to turn the thing on and all I get is the folder with the blinking question mark (read: NO GOOD). So I let the guy take a look at it this afternoon (who thought I was 'lovely' - thanks buddy but that's not helping me right now). He proceeded to confirm my worse fears and tell me that there was a 'complete hard drive failure.' CRAP. Luckily, I'm finished with all the big stuff at school and all I need to do is study for finals but all my notes are on there and guess who was planning on backing up her computer last week and never got around to it for lack of time??? yeah me...stupid
SO I had the thing sent off and apparently they are going to fix it for about $300 which I feel is not a terrible price. Still $300 but not $700. Oh well...

So I'm going through iBaby withdrawl. I'm sad because I lost all of my music i downloaded and bought from iTunes as well as the good majority of my pictures. I could care less about my papers and all that...hahaha...you can see where my priorities are! I'm currently savoring my iPod. If anyone knows how to get music from the iPod TO the computer I would be forever grateful. That would save me and make me feel a tad bit better.

So that's my rant for the night...makes me sad to think that I can't have her for 7-10 business days and that I have to use a PC (gasp!!) for my addictive emailing needs. Pray for me ;)

my time finally arrived

Finally...
That's all there is to it.
After MULTIPLE tries, strategies, and no luck, Sara and I FINALLY won the Wicked lotto.
Two words: AMAZING SHOW
I have no idea how else to describe it. One of the best shows I have ever ever seen. I think we may just do this every weekend from here on out just in the off chance that we win again and get to see it again.

To summarize:
-stood in line/waited for 20 minutes
-Third from last person called was ME
-FREAKED OUT - yes, we were those crazy people in the crowd screaming
-paid only TWENTY-FIVE dollars for second row Wicked tickets.
All of that = AMAZING NIGHT

So to anyone who has considered seeing Wicked, it would probably be worth even paying for a ticket... but only the tourists do that ;)

And I thought Kirksville was bad...

Ok when I went to college in Kirksville, MO (read: Farmtown, USA), we went to Wal-Mart a WHOLE lot. It was THE THING to do. We used to make whole Saturday afternoons of it really... There was a Sonic drive in across the street so we would go over there and get slush floats and then head over to Wal-Mart to "get stuff." Keep in mind that every good Wal-Mart in a town such as K-ville includes a supermarket section making it the ever wonderful WAL-MART SUPERCENTER. Thus allowing bored and poor college students the opportunity to spend ENDLESS amounts of time in this wonderful establishment. Then we would leave, go by the little tents set up on Saturdays outside and get ourselves a bag of fresh kettle corn. Ah, those were the days....

ANYWAY, you gotta read this article. We were never this bad but I feel like the thought of doing such a thing did cross our minds a few times...ah what boredome and a very large megesupermarket will do for you...

Brilliant timing....really...

Calling any and all Macintosh nerds:
Please Please Please help me! My computer is sick, I think. Last night it freaked out and did the swirly "please wait" thing and wouldn't stop. So everything was force quit and then the thing wouldn't come back on! Blue Screen of Death as I named it was my predictament last night. At that point I was freakin out because the eight pages of the 11 page paper I am supposed to finish which I had spent ALL day reasearching and writing was on my computer. Luckily, thanks to the Apple website, I figured out how to start it up in safe mode and got my paper onto my flash drive. The best piece of advice I received at that point was "Let it take a nap. You are tired. It probably is too." So I shut it off for the night and woke up today and it is sort of working. It's on but I'm very afraid the whole thing is going to shut down at any moment. I'm thinking it is possibly some bug in Microsoft Word. I have a relatively old version of it and I think that that might be it.... The problem is that I MUST have Microsoft Word in order to pass school and graduate and I cannot afford to purchase a new copy. This is an issue.

So is this my problem? And how do I fix it? Please, someone help me!!!!!!
Oh and I was gonna take it to the Genius Bar but it's Saturday and it's crazy crowded there on Saturdays and it's not like I don't have anything I'm supposed to be doing... UGH

I'm a slacker

I looked at the date on my last post and apparently it was almost a MONTH ago! I am officially a blog slacker. No that I have that many readers, but still, I'm a slacker. But for good reason, I tell ya! Life has been super busy recently. I spend the large majority of my time with iBaby, she knows me best, we spend the most time together. She helps me to write my papers, get info on the web, plays me some tunes...all the things you need as a grad student ready to finish! So, here's to you, iBaby!!!
SO, I have two months of school left and from here on out it's pretty busy every week. My plan is go "get by" with enough to graduate and never show my transcript to anyone ever again. Sounds about right to me huh? :)

Anyway, since the last update, much has happened. We went to Sara's 24th birthday party (5 year old birthday theme, complete with party hats and blowers...) at a karaoke bar. That's right, Sara, Nikki, and myself all sang Whitney's 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody.' See below:

Also, I decided that in celebration of graduating, I am going to treat myself to a trip to Europe! Sara and I decided that it is well-deserved and booked a one-way ticket to Dublin (only $195!! A deal!) and then later a one-way ticket back to NY from Ibiza, Spain. So the plan is to be in Dublin for a few days, then go to France and then Spain. Three weeks total. I'm extremely excited!

On other notes, I'll be in St. Louis for Easter so if anyone wants to get together just give me a call! Love you guys!

BLIZZARD LIKE CONDITIONS!!!

The nor'easter (what is that anyway???) came through last night and today and allegedly dumped TWENTY-TWO inches in central park (so says the weather channel). Too bad I had stuff to do and couldn't really enjoy it... Oh well, enjoy the pics anyway!

**UPDATE**

Well here's the latest on the crazy neighbor story...
The next day after she left the note under our door, she left a package on the stoop. I went out to leave and found it. There was a votive candle thing and another card with FIFTY bucks inside. I opened the card and it said that she was very very sorry and that she just wanted to talk and could we please call her. She wrote that she had been drinking and was also taking 5HTP (apparently some natural antidepressant) which mixed had that below described effect on her. Her phone number was all over the card. I still let it sit for the day...

Later that afternoon she came to the door again and we talked for a minute. She wanted to know what she did and told us that she had woken up in the hospital and didn't know how she got there. She was still really random and crazy and still didn't seem normal. But we had checked in and I think she felt better about the whole thing. She also mentioned that her sisters were coming "to suprise her" and she seemed really excited about that.

Later that night, we had our Bible study group over and the doorbell rings. I got to the door and she is halfway down the stairs with her sisters. She turns to me and says, "HI!! We're going to the hospital!!" Her sisters looked at me with the most embarrassed and tired looks on their faces and apologized profusely for her. The looked 'normal.'

So yeah, I've seen her in the hall a few times and she seems back to how she used to be. I don't know if that means sober but we're hoping so. In the sermon on Sunday, Tim was talking about how everyone, no matter who you are, what you are doing, or even if you realize it, is looking for Jesus. I've been trying to figure out why she chose here to come to and that is the only thing I can come to...She was looking for Jesus...Please pray for her...
